Gary Sanders
Mediator / Arbitrator
Prior to entering the mediation field, Gary Sanders worked for 30 years in the commercial sector negotiating agreements for corporations across the US in the technology, drug and service industries. In those roles, he displayed an instinct for closing deals and resolving disputes. As a Mediator, he is an active participant in the ADR programs supporting the Superior Courts in several Northern California counties and the Real Estate industry. This includes his work as a volunteer mediator, acknowledged as a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association’s ‘Pro Bono Honor Roll’ in 2020 and 2021.
He draws on his experiences as a mediator and corporate negotiator to unravel complicated scenarios, gain consensus and settle disputes. To generate results, he demonstrates intense listening, constant curiosity, attention to detail, thorough preparation, tenacity, awareness of cultural differences and creativity.
He is affiliated with the following organizations: Settlement Mentor for the Contra Costa County Superior court; ADR Panels for Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno and Solano counties; Mediation Panel for the California Association of Realtors; and the ‘Day of Court’ Settlement Program for the Alameda County Superior Court. He serves as Secretary for the ADR Committee of the California Lawyers Association and as Co-Chair of the ADR Executive Committee of the Alameda County Bar Association.
He was raised in the Midwest, graduating from Washburn University School of Law and is a member of the Kansas bar.
He received his initial Mediation training from Steve Rosenberg Mediation and his Arbitration certificate from Ron Kelly Mediation and Arbitration.
