Steve Ruben has been practicing law for over 38 years. He is the managing partner of The Ruben Law Firm, P.C. of San Francisco and is a Certified Family Law Specialist. In 2005 and 2006 Ruben was named one of Northern California’s Super Lawyers, and he is currently being nominated in 2011. He serves as a member of the prestigious Elkins Family Law Task Force of the Judicial Council of California. The role of the task force is to ensure access and fairness to all litigants to justice in all Family Law courts. Since 2007, Ruben has been a member of the executive committee of the State Bar Family Law section and is currently a liaison to the Association of California Family Law Specialists. He is a contributing editor to the California Monthly Law Reports providing commentary to recent case developments to California Family Law practitioners.

Ruben has extensive ADR experience. He has been a Family Law mediator since 1999 and a BASF arbitrator and mediator on attorney fee disputes since 1998. Additionally, Ruben acts as Judge Pro Tem in the Unified Family Court where he hears support, custody, property and domestic violence cases and acts as Settlement Judge. He was appointed in November of 2009 as Judge Pro Tem supervising the Bench/Bar Settlement Conferences in Marin County.

Ruben’s resume includes mediation training at Pepperdine School of Law, Strauss School of Alternative Dispute Resolution (1998); Collaborative Family Law training (2000) and membership on the San Francisco Family Collaborative Law Panel (2000-2003); and Community Board mediation member since 2000 where he resolved neighbor disputes. Ruben is a Member of the California and Illinois Bars, and is licensed to practice in the Northern and Eastern Districts of California, the Northern District of Illinois and the US Supreme Court. He is a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco, the Executive Committee of the Family Law Committee, a member of the Board and Scholarship Foundation of the Lawyers Club, and a former President of the Lawyers Club of San Francisco and a member of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists.
