Arnold & Porter attorney Marty Glick was recently honored by the ABA Section of Litigation as one of the recipients of the 2014 John Minor Wisdom Public Interest and Professionalism Award. The award was created to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to the quality of justice in their communities, ensuring that the legal system is open and available to all.
California Academy of Appellate Lawyers Elects President
Arnold & Porter appellate attorney Steven L. Mayer was recently elected as President of the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers (CAAL), a position he will hold until May 2015. The academy is a selective group of about 90 experienced appellate practitioners. Prior to serving as President of CAAL, Mayer was CAAL’s First Vice-President.
The Recorder Names Corporate Practices of the Year
Congratulations to the BASF Leaders Circle firms who were recognized by The Recorder in their 2014 Corporate Practice of the Year Awards.
In the Mergers and Acquisitions category, Morrison & Foerster was recognized as a finalist. In the Capital Markets category, Fenwick & West was recognized as a finalist. In the Emerging Companies category, Fenwick & West was announced as the winner and Cooley and Latham & Watkins were announced as finalists.
In the Venture Capital category, Cooley was announced as the winner and Latham & Watkins and Morrison & Foerster were announced as finalists. In the Governance category, Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton and Morrison & Foerster were announced as finalists.
The winners and finalists will be honored at a dinner on June 26 in San Francisco.
Shirish Gupta Awarded the Sportsmanship Award
The Foster City U9 boys Winter Select team which is coached by BASF Member Shirish Gupta, Flashpoint Mediation, won the Sportsmanship Award for the 2014 Area 2N Winter League.
The award is based on the referees’ impressions for each match of three categories – the coaches’, parents’, and players’ sportsmanship.
