Volunteer Interpreter Application

JDC offers the opportunity to volunteer as an interpreter to persons 18 years or older who possess language proficiency in all languages for which they will interpret. Specifically, an applicant must be able to interpret and translate with accuracy from one language to another in a clinic, workshop or private consultation setting without JDC supervision.   • Using the pull-down menu, select the language(s) other than English that you speak and select your listening and speaking proficiency levels. Hover cursor over the proficiency level for its meaning.
  • Novice: Communicates minimally with rote utterances, lists and phases or speaking with individual words or phrases involving the language.
    Immediate: The ability to initiate, maintain and close conversations by asking and responding to simple questions.
    Fluent: The ability to speak, write, read, and comprehend the language.
