The Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) is excited to announce new details about the experiences guests can expect when they log on to join the virtual Gala on September 16.
Kicking off the evening, mixologist Rebecca Pinnell will guide guests as they learn to shake, stir, and mix their own cocktails, perfected for the home bartender. Then, following the main gala program where we celebrate a JDC student and client speaker, guests can choose among a diverse array of experiences designed to nourish the body, mind, and creative spirit.
The evening’s offerings include a cooking demonstration with Chef Mitchell Rosenthal, as previously announced. A ‘shockingly good cook,’ according to restaurant critic Michael Bauer, Rosenthal is the chef and co-owner of Town Hall in San Francisco.
Guests who crave creative inspiration can experience art in the making as they watch San Francisco artist Crayone complete a canvas and provide insights on street art. Recognized as one of the founding artists of the San Francisco aerosol art scene, Crayone is a legendary artist who received worldwide recognition for developing new styles and techniques. Most recently Crayone, who is also a San Francisco firefighter, worked on a series of social justice murals in the Mission District. He is completing a mural titled Presente! this month which was commissioned by Arlo Uriarte, Liberation Law Group, and supported by Lisa Bowes, owner of Mission Art 415, who will be there to chat the evening of the Gala.
A trivia experience awaits those who want to test their skills in a friendly competition. Finally, three live virtual roundtable discussions offer insights and expertise on current topics, including corporations and social responsibility; professional sports struggling with COVID-19 and racial inequity; and finally, how to step up as an ally in these times of social unrest.
Closing out the evening will be, as in previous years, DJ D Sharp, the official DJ of the Golden State Warriors. Join the dance party, and don’t miss out on this night to remember!
