The Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) celebrated its top volunteers at the annual Outstanding Volunteer Celebration on March 21. With over 225 people attending the event, held at The Green Room, Chief Justice of California Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye recognized awardees’ service to JDC’s Pro Bono Legal Services Programs, Homeless Advocacy Project and Diversity Educational Programs.

JDC honored the top 15 percent of 2016 volunteers with Outstanding Volunteer Certificates. In addition, JDC recognized two individual volunteers, two law firms and a corporation with special awards.

Lindsay Cooper received the 2016 Housing Justice Award for her dedication to fairness for low-income tenants facing eviction.

JDC presented Sucherman Insalaco with the James P. Preovolos Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Services in Family Law. Attorneys Michelene Insalaco and Staci Lambright assisted with a particularly compelling case with technical legal challenges.

Javonne Gwinn, a social worker, received JDC’s Community Service Award for her commitment to volunteering at the monthly Legal Advice and Referral Clinics.

JDC gave Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton the Outstanding Law Firm in Public Service Award for its increased pro bono support of a number of our Legal Services programs.

JDC recognized Dolby Laboratories with the Outstanding Corporation Award for its legal department’s commitment to pro bono service.
