Duane Morris Attorney Honored
BASF member Meagen Leary of Duane Morris recently received a Women’s Impact Network for Success Award for her efforts to advance women in the legal profession. Meagen, a partner in the firm’s San Francisco office, received the Margery Reed Professional Excellence Award at a ceremony at Duane Morris’ annual firm-wide meeting on October 27.
Littler Receives Diversity Award
BASF Leader Circle Firm Littler recently was honored with the 2017 Hope Award for Diversity from the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Silicon Valley (APABA Silicon Valley). The firm was selected based on its commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace, the legal profession and the greater community. Shareholder John Hong, based in San Francisco, accepted the award on Littler’s behalf at the APABA Silicon Valley gala ceremony.
Keker, Van Nest & Peters Honored for Pro Bono Work
The Northern California Chapter of the Iranian American Bar Association recently honored BASF Leader Circle Firm Keker, Van Nest & Peters who partnered with the ACLU in a pro bono capacity to file suit challenging President Trump’s first travel ban.
Minami Tamaki Honored for Philanthropy
BASF Leader Circle Firm Minami Tamaki was recently honored by the Asian Pacific Fund at its Annual Gala. The firm was presented with the Leadership in Philanthropy Award, which recognizes individuals who have attained great success in their field while also being a role model for giving back.
For more than 40 years, Minami Tamaki has been a trailblazer in legal services and civil rights on behalf of the Asian American community. The firm made history by reopening the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case, Korematsu v. the United States, and overturning the conviction of Fred Korematsu. The outcome led to reparations for interned Japanese Americans.

Past President Honored by George Washington Law School
Past BASF President Thomas F. Smegal, Jr. was recently honored with the J. William Fulbright Distinguished Public Service Award by the George Washington University Law School. The award was presented in Washington, D.C., on October 27. The award was in recognition of his contributions to patent law and public service.
