KVP Attorneys for Member Impact

Erin E. Myer, a commercial litigation partner at Keker, Van Nest & Peters, was recently awarded the 2025 Member Impact Award from the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area. Law360 featured recent actions taken by Erin, alongside associates Jonhatan Aragon and Kayla Crowell, as a man came into their downtown San Francisco pleading for help as his sister was unlawfully detained by ICE agents. “I’m not a constitutional lawyer, but to me, these are pretty basic constitutional violations, Fifth Amendment right violations that anyone who litigates cases can do” Meyer told Law360. Congratulations to those at KVP for jumping in and securing justice for these asylum seekers.

John Keker, San Franciscan of the Year

Congratulations to John Keker, founding partner of Keker, Van Nest & Peters on being named a San Franciscan of the Year by the San Francisco Examiner. As one of the nation’s respected trial lawyers, the Examiner acknowledged his “fearless defense of justice and civic integrity” in the face of targets from the White House. Keker has exemplified the recognition mission of those who have made a great impact on the city and embody the city’s values on the national stage. He will be honored with other recipients on December 3rd at the San Franciscans of the Year Icons Celebration.

New Additions to Ogletree Deakins San Francisco

The Bar Association of San Francisco extends a warm welcome to Maria N. Miller and Maureen Bogue as they join the San Francisco office. With extensive experience as a labor and employment lawyer and former CHRO, Miller is joining Of Counsel. Their press release shares that she is known for her work in strengthening workplace culture in unionized environments. 

Maureen Bogue will be joining the San Francisco office as shareholder as an Ex-Saber Lawyer. She advises employers on issues regarding the workplace: leaves of absence, disability accommodations, wage and hour compliance, and more. Lisa Hamasaki, Ogletree’s managing partner shares, “Her deep experience as a counselor to global companies makes her an invaluable partner to employers navigating today’s legal landscape.” 

Davis Wright Tremain 2026 Law Firm of the Year

Congratulations to the DWT San Francisco office for being recognized in the 2026 edition of the Best Law Firms. Factors such as client feedback, peer reviews, interviews with industry leaders, and a detailed analysis of law firm data to determine which firms are featured. For San Francisco, DWT was ranked Tier 1 in the markets and practices of Employment Law – management, Energy Law, Litigation – First Amendment, Litigation – Labor and Employment, and Media Law.  

Michael Sobol, a Top Plaintiff Lawyer

Congratulations to Michael Sobol, partner at Lieff Cabraser San Francisco, who was recently named among “Top Plaintiff Lawyers in California” in the Daily Journal’s annual listing. This recognition highlights “leading advocates fighting for consumers in personal injury, mass torts, and civil rights cases.” Sobol currently serves as chair of the firm’s Cybersecurity & Data Privacy group since its inception in 2016.  

Walkup Melodia Kicking Off the Holiday Season with Turkey Giveaway

Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger was recently featured on ABC News for hosting their 3rd Annual Turkey Giveaway on Saturday, November 22nd. In partnership with Lowell High School’s Alumni Association, they were able to distribute 700 turkeys and holiday meal certificates to local families in need. In an on-air interview with Walkup shareholder BASF Past President, Doris Cheng, she stated that “I think when we can serve together and share together, we’re always better off.”
