Our clients:
The Consumer Advocacy Project (CAP) serves low-income San Franciscans by providing free legal advice and education. CAP has a monthly clinic, by appointment only, where clients meet with a trained attorney to get free legal help.
CAP helps clients with:
- debt collection lawsuits
- student loan issues
- personal mortgage or personal loans problems
- debt collection harassment
- identity theft and credit fraud
On a case-by-case basis, some clients receive free representation in their debt collections lawsuit from a volunteer attorney.
If you need assistance between December 2020 and March 2021, please contact Jesus Maya at jmaya@sfbar.org.
Our attorneys:
California licensed attorneys can volunteer with CAP after they have received training in consumer law by the supervising attorney. Volunteer opportunities are both limited-scope and full-scope, including consultations and help at the monthly CAP clinic, limited scope help with motions as needed, or full-scope representation in debt collections cases.
For more information on volunteering, please contact probono@sfbar.org.
