Justice and diversity, now more than ever. That is the prevailing spirit at the Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) as we prepare for an evening of gratitude and recognition in the midst of unprecedented, frequently unpredictable, and incredibly difficult times for the people we serve.
JDC’s Annual Gala, taking place virtually on September 16, will bring to life the importance of our work and services. Executive Director Yolanda Jackson and President Stuart Plunkett will share updates and insights on the impact of JDC’s work during times of increased demand for services. Guests will also hear inspiring stories from one of JDC’s law student scholarship recipients and one of our legal services clients.
Throughout the evening, guests will be treated to a selection of tastes and experiences. Guests can choose to follow a mixologist and create their own gala cocktail or mocktail in time for the program to start, or they can experience art in the making.
JDC is excited to announce that the evening’s offerings will also include a cooking demonstration with Chef Mitchell Rosenthal. A ‘shockingly good cook,’ according to restaurant critic Michael Bauer, Rosenthal is the chef and co-owner of Salt House, Town Hall, and Anchor & Hope in San Francisco. With his brother, Rosenthal served as executive chef at Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio in San Francisco beginning in 1994.
And then of course, there will be an amazing dance party! Everyone can participate by dancing on your feet or dancing in your seat. The Golden State Warriors’ DJ D Sharp will entertain us through the end of the evening.
Keep an eye on www.sfbar.org/gala, as additional experiences are revealed over the next few weeks.
