The VLSP Story

This page and questionnaire is for existing 501(c)(3) organizations. If your organization is seeking assistance in incorporating as a 501(c)(3) organization, please complete the questionnaire:

Eligibility

CORP assists 501c3 organizations that are based in Northern California, that directly serve low-income individuals and communities in Northern California and have a budget of under $5 million. If you believe the organization you work for qualifies and needs free legal services, email corp@sfbar.org at CORP the following intake information to start the application process:

a. Name of the organization

b. Address and contact information (Your organization must be based in Northern California)

c. Mission statement

d. Description of how the organization directly serves the low-income community

e. Annual operating budget

f. Legal need(s) - Describe in detail

g. Your organization’s Web site address, if available

Once we receive the following information we will contact you to move forward with the application process. When an organization's application has been approved we will immediately start to secure a pro bono attorney to address your legal need.

Last year, VLSP staff and over 1,800 VLSP volunteers assisted nearly 8,000 clients at an approximate value of $13 million. Our award-winning program changes lives by using a holistic approach that offers social services as well as legal assistance.

3 Things You Can Do to Help CORP Advance Its Work:

1. Donate to VLSP: For every dollar VLSP spends, seven dollars worth of services are donated.

2. Volunteer: Join over 1,100 attorneys that work to enhance the lives of low-income individuals and the organizations that serve them.

3. Spread the Word: Tell your friends that work for nonprofits about CORP -- a project that provides free legal services to organizations in Northern California. Email corp@sfbar.org for more information.
