Legal Community Continues to Raise the Bar in Annual Drive for the SF-Marin Food Bank

June 25, 2015– San Francisco -- The Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) and the SF-Marin Food Bank celebrated the results of the annual Food From the Bar Campaign at an awards ceremony at Wine and Wall restaurant on June 18. Food From the Bar is the legal community’s annual fundraising drive to benefit the SF-Marin Food Bank.

The campaign included 61 participating organizations in San Francisco and Marin County raising more than $692,000; collecting 7,700 pounds of food; and contributing 1,658 volunteer hours at the food bank.

Paul Ash, CEO of the SF-Marin Food Bank, had this to say about the campaign, “The SF-Marin Food Bank relies on Food From the Bar to help provide healthy food for thousands of low income individuals, families and seniors.  Food From the Bar once again featured an outpouring of generosity mixed with healthy competition and creative challenges to raise food for over two million meals.  We’re grateful to BASF and all of its members for their individual and collective support.”

Money donated, food collected and volunteer time help distribute millions of pounds of food to more than 450 pantries and agencies serving hungry people throughout San Francisco and Marin.

  • The “Top Fundraising” honor went to, for the eighth year in a row, the Fremont Group, who has raised more money than any other fundraising drive in San Francisco Food Bank history, with an amazing $150,000 raised!
  • Bechtel was recognized as the “Top Foodraiser” bringing in 1,500 pounds of food
  • The “Top Volunteer” award went to Farella Braun + Martel for mobilizing 130 hours of volunteer service.
  • The “Per Capita Grand Prize” went to the Fremont Group for raising the most money per person
