BASF Board Sends Letter to State Bar Regarding Proposal for Two Day Bar Exam

May 21, 2015 -- San Francisco – The Bar Association of San Francisco's Board of Directors recently formed a task force to examine the State Bar of California's proposed changes to the California Bar Exam.

On May 20, BASF Board President Timothy Moppin sent a letter on behalf of the task force expressing its concerns with the State Bar's proposal to reduce the bar exam from three to two days.

The main concerns are as follows:

  • Potential impact on the standards for admission
  • The resulting effect on existing members of the bar
  • The effect on the quality of legal services provided in California, and
  • The effect on consumer protection

Download the letter, which asks the State Bar Board of Trustees to postpone its decision on the proposal, and allow for public education and comment.
