Legal Community Exceeds Goals in Annual Drive for San Francisco and Marin Food Banks

July 26, 2013 – San Francisco -- The Bar Association of San Francisco and the San Francisco and Marin Food Banks celebrated a record-breaking annual Food From the Bar Campaign at an awards ceremony at One Market Plaza on July 16th.

The campaign included 73 participating organizations in San Francisco and Marin County raising $594,034; collecting 6,721  pounds of food; and contributing 902 volunteer shifts at the food bank. Food from the Bar is the legal community’s annual fundraising drive to benefit the San Francisco and Marin Food Banks.
The campaign for the first year welcomed members of the Marin County legal community.
Money donated, food collected and volunteer time help distribute millions of pounds of food to more than 450 pantries and agencies serving hungry people throughout San Francisco and Marin.

  • The “Top Fundraising” honor went to, for the sixth year in a row, the Fremont Group, who has raised more money than any other fundraising drive in San Francisco Food Bank history, with an amazing $107,072 raised!
  • The Most Creative Award goes to Hanson Bridget thanks in large part to their Partner Sumo Wrestling Event.
  • The Small/Solo Award went to Kaufhold Gaskin where a 3-person team raised $3,000.
  • Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe was recognized as the “Top Foodraiser” bringing in 765 pounds of food.
  • The Top Volunteer award went to Pacific Gas & Electric, for mobilizing 89 volunteer shifts.
  • The “Per Capita Grand Prize” went to Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP for raising the most money per person.

Campaign Chair Christy Richardson of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, had this to say about the campaign’s success, “Each year our legal community out does itself with our Annual Food From the Bar campaign. Our accomplishment in this regard was beyond measure, particularly given the current economic situation. Our legal community rallied to set a new standard of contribution, dedication and enthusiasm, and BASF is particularly proud to be a significant partner in our effort to serve our community.”
