BASF Holds Diversity Summit in Preparation for 2015 Report on Diversity Hiring

Summit was followed by awards reception honoring Minority Bar Coalition Members


November 26, 2012 – San Francisco – The Bar Association of San Francisco’s (BASF) Equality Committee recently held a Diversity Summit in order to prepare for the 2015 Goals & Timetables report on diversity in the legal profession. Thought leaders in the Bay Area legal community were brought together to have an honest dialogue, go beyond the numbers and discuss how old approaches have impeded success in the advancement of diversity.

The summit, titled, “Unmasking Diversity” was held on November 13 and included two panels and seven working group discussions. Panelists included Krystal Bowen, Bingham McCutchen; Bakari Brock, Twitter; BASF President Kelly Dermody, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein; Andrew Hinton, Google; Josetta Jones, Chevron Corporation; Steven Lowenthal, Farella Braun + Martel; Raymond Marshall, Bingham McCutchen; Christophe Mosby, Hewlett-Packard Company; Michael Tubach, O’Melveny & Myers and Robert Van Nest, Keker & Van Nest.

The afternoon sessions concluded with the 2012 Minority Bar Coalition Unity Awards Reception. The awards are given by bar associations that belong to the Minority Bar Coalition to members who showcase dedication to working in a unified manner to advance the cause of diversity within the legal profession. The following people were selected as their minority bar association’s choice for the 2012 Unity Award:
