BASF Fundraiser at Banana Republic Raises $10,000 for its School-To-College and Mock Trial Programs

August 17, 2011 – San Francisco – More than 160 people attended the Banana Republic “Work Your Wardrobe” Fundraiser for The Bar Association of San Francisco’s School-To-College and Mock Trial pipeline programs on August 16.

The event was hosted by BASF’s Corporate Law Department Section and In-House Counsel Sub-Section, and was well attended by outside counsel as well as in-house counsel from organizations such as Yelp, San Francisco Giants, Gap Inc., PG& E and Safeway. The event raised $10,000.

Gap Inc.’s Wilma Wallace, chair of BASF’s In-House Counsel Sub-Section was pleased with the turnout of the event, “I’m so proud of the San Francisco legal community and our willingness to come out and support such critical pipeline projects, such as the School-To-College program and Mock Trial. The sub-committee, BASF staff and my Gap Inc. legal colleagues worked hard to make sure that the fundraiser at the Banana Republic store accomplished two of our sub-committee’s goals: to foster a stronger community among in-house legal counsel through networking and to support BASF pro bono and diversity initiatives and programs.”

BASF thanks the event sponsors: Arnold & Porter LLP; Davis Wright Tremaine LLP; Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C; Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP; Littler Mendelson PC ; Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and Moscone Emblidge & Sater LLP.

Equally instrumental in making this event the huge success it was were the in-house attorneys at The Gap and the Banana Republic store. BASF thanks Marie Ma and D’Lonra Ellis of the The Gap legal department and Rick Magic and his wonderful staff at the Banana Republic.

School-To-College and Mock Trial are two of BASF's diversity pipeline programs that service high school students in the San Francisco Unified School District. Students are provided leadership opportunities and are introduced to the possibilities offered by college, law school, and careers in law.
