20th Anniversary of Food From The Bar Campaign Brings in Record Amount

Fremont Group raised more money than any other fundraising drive in SF Food bank history

 

July 7, 2011 – San Francisco -- The Bar Association of San Francisco and the San Francisco Food Bank celebrated the 20th annual Food From the Bar Campaign and recognized the legal organizations who greatly contributed to the campaign at an awards ceremony at One Market Plaza on June 21.

The campaign included 75 participating organizations raising $513,783; collecting 13,386 pounds of food; and contributing 706 volunteer shifts at the food bank. Food From the Bar is the legal community’s annual fundraising drive to benefit the San Francisco and Marin food banks.

Money donated, food collected and volunteer time help distribute millions of pounds of food to more than 600 pantries and agencies serving hungry people throughout San Francisco and Marin.

The “Top Fundraising” honor went to, for the fourth year in a row, the Fremont Group, who has raised more money than any other fundraising drive in San Francisco Food Bank history, with an amazing $82,360 raised!

Kirkland & Ellis was recognized as the “Top Foodraiser” bringing in more than 972 pounds of food.

The “Chief Volunteer Recruiter” award went to Seyfarth Shaw, for the second year in a row, with 50 volunteer shifts.

The “2011 Rookie of the Year” honor went to fist-time participants Bechtel Legal & Risk Management.

The “Per Capita Grand Prize” went to Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP for raising the most money per person.

“We were awestruck by the incredible response from the legal community. In a challenging year, we collectively achieved a record-breaking level of participation and contribution. This outstanding result is 100% due to the generosity and goodwill of the people in our community and touches the heart of everyone involved in organizing this year’s effort, " said Food from the Bar Campaign Co-Chairs James Donato, Shearman & Sterling and Jonathan Stroper, Hanson Bridgett.
