2010 Food From The Bar Campaign Raises Record Amount

June 24, 2010  – San Francisco – The Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) and the San Francisco Food Bank (SFFB) recognized the legal organizations who greatly contributed to the 2010 Food from the Bar Campaign at an awards ceremony at One Market Plaza on June 17.  The campaign, in its 19th year, brought in a record amount with 76 participating organizations raising $423,595; collecting 10,057 pounds of food; and contributing 856 volunteer shifts at the food bank.

Food from the Bar is the legal community's annual fundraising drive to benefit the San Francisco Food Bank. Money donated, food collected and volunteer time help distribute millions of pounds of food to more than 600 pantries and agencies serving hungry people throughout San Francisco.

The Fremont Group earned the Top Fundraiser award by raising $76,345. The Chief Foodraiser honor went to Pacific Gas and Electric Company for collecting 774 pounds of food. Chief Volunteer Recruiters award went to Seyfarth Shaw —a 100-person office that logged an incredible 62 volunteer hour shifts.

And for the first time, the Per Capita Grand Prize went to the Fremont Group for raising the most money per person with 100% firm participation.

“This year’s Food From the Bar campaign has sustained an amazing level of giving from the legal community.  At a time when many in the legal industry are struggling due to the economic climate; the Food From the Bar Food Drive exceeded our fundraising goal by over $23,000,” said Paul Ash, Executive Director of the San Francisco Food Bank. “This years contributions will help us provide the equivalent of nearly 1.3 million meals to those at risk of hunger.”
