NewsroomShareThe Volunteer Legal Services Program Wins National Award
May 18, 2010 – San Francisco - The Volunteer Legal Services Program (VLSP) of The Bar Association of San Francisco announced today that it received the 2010 Pro Bono Best Practices Spotlight Award at the 2010 Equal Justice Conference for its Housing Negotiation Project (HNP). The award was given by the National Association of Pro Bono Professionals (NAPBPro). NAPBPro is an independent organization of pro bono professionals that works closely with the American Bar Association’s Center for Pro Bono. HNP is VLSP's limited-scope project for eviction defense. Volunteer lawyers through this project, under the supervision of a VLSP attorney, offer representation to every low-income tenant facing eviction in San Francisco at the crucial settlement conference immediately before trial. The project has been replicated in other cities across the country. To learn more about HNP, and volunteering with VLSP, please email vlsp@sfbar.org. |
