BASF Foundation Presents Big Gavel Award to O’Melveny & Myers
Annual Award Signifies Highest Percentage of Attorney Contributions in 2009

May 10, 2010 – San Francisco - The BASF Foundation presented O’Melveny & Myers LLP with the Foundation’s Big Gavel Award, in recognition of donations made to the Foundation’s diversity programs and to the Volunteer Legal Services Program in 2009.

O’Melveny & Myers topped the list of San Francisco law firm offices with 18 percent of their attorneys making donations in 2009 to the BASF Foundation in support of BASF’s diversity pipeline programs and the Volunteer Legal Services Program.

In accepting the award, O’Melveny Managing Partner Michael Tubach said, “Receiving this award was a happy surprise.  One of O'Melveny's core values has always been to fulfill our responsibility to give back to the communities in which we practice law, but we didn't know that our level of commitment would put us at the very top of the firms in San Francisco.”

The Big Gavel Award will be presented each year by the BASF Foundation to the law firm with the highest percentage of donors in its San Francisco office.  Any firm that tops the list for three years running gets to keep the award permanently.
