Legal Community's Food from the Bar Campaign Raises $369,324 for San Francisco Food Bank

July 22, 2009 -- San Francisco
-- The Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) and the San Francisco Food Bank (SFFB) recognized those legal organizations who greatly contributed to the 2009 Food from the Bar Campaign at an awards ceremony at One Market Plaza restaurant on June 25.  The campaign, in its 18th year, brought in a record amount with 79 participating organizations raising $369,324, collecting 13,506 pounds of food and contributing 937 volunteer shifts at the food bank.

Food from the Bar is the legal community's annual fundraising drive to benefit the San Francisco Food Bank. Money donated, food collected and volunteer time help distribute millions of pounds of food to more than 600 pantries and agencies serving hungry people throughout San Francisco.

The Fremont Group earned the Top Fundraiser award by raising $56,300—more than any other office in the campaign’s history. The Chief Foodraiser honor went to the PG&E Legal Department for collecting 3,291 pounds of food. Chief Volunteer Recruiters award went to Liner Law—an eighteen-person office that logged an incredible 77 volunteer hour shifts. And for the second year in a row Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP won the Per Capita Grand Prize for raising the most money per person with 100% participation of the firm.

San Francisco Food Bank Executive Director Paul Ash was thrilled with the results, stating,“This is a tremendous result and it couldn’t have come at a better time. With the recession driving more and more people to need help for the first time, we’re glad that our Food from the Bar partners have stepped up and met the challenge.”
