New directors, who will serve three-year terms beginning in 2008, are: Kelly Dermody, Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP; David Hopmann, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP; Doron Weinberg, Weinberg & Wilder; Robert Sims, Latham & Watkins LLP; and Daniel Dean, Taylor & Gutierrez LLP.

In addition to the new directors and officers, the board also includes two representatives from the Minority Bar Coalition. 2007 MBC representative Jennifer Shoda, Snyder Miller & Orton, will continue in this capacity in 2008. Joining her will be Vidhya Prabhakaran, an associate at Goodin, MacBride, Squeri, Day & Lamprey, LLP.

The MBC representative positions on the board were established in 2005 when BASF's by-laws were amended to allow for the addition of two "Minority Bar Directors" to serve one-year terms effective January 1 of each calendar year. According to the revised BASF by-laws, "the Board shall, in consultation with the Coalition of Minority Bars of the Bay Area, select two individuals on or before November 20 of to serve as "Minority Bar Directors" for the succeeding calendar year." The Minority Bar Coalition is a coalition of minority bar organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area dedicated to the issues facing minority lawyers. Through unified action, the MBC empowers, encourages, and promotes the interests of minority lawyers and the legal community at large.

The new officers and directors will be sworn in at the Annual Membership Luncheon on December 19.
