Food from the Bar Awards Ceremony Celebrates Legal Community's Record-Breaking Effort to End Hunger in San Francisco

Annual Campaign Raised More than $274,000 for San Francisco Food Bank

July 11, 2007 - San Francisco - The Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) and the San Francisco Food Bank (SFFB) recognized those law firms and individuals who greatly contributed to the 2007 Food from the Bar Campaign at an awards ceremony at One Market Restaurant in San Francisco on June 27.

Food from the Bar is the legal community's annual fundraising drive to benefit the San Francisco Food Bank. Money donated, food collected and volunteer time help distribute millions of pounds of food to more than 500 pantries and agencies serving hungry people throughout San Francisco. The campaign ran from April 23-May 18.

The campaign, in its 15th year, brought in a record setting amount with 73 participating organizations raising $274,266; 22,483 pounds of food; and contributing 1,935 volunteer hours.

San Francisco Food Bank Executive Director Paul Ash said, "Once again the legal community has outdone itself in helping feed the hungry of San Francisco. Thanks to the record amount of money raised, the thousands of pounds of food donated and nearly 2,000 hours volunteered at the San Francisco Food Bank, we will be able to supply healthy, nutritious food for one million meals for thousands of San Francisco children and their families this summer.
