The Bar Association of San Francisco Wins National Communications Awards
November 7, 2006 - San Francisco - The Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) Executive Director Daniel Burkhardt announced that BASF has received a 2006 Luminary Award for communications excellence from the National Association of Bar Executives (NABE). In a gathering in Albuquerque, New Mexico, of the NABE Communications Section, BASF received a Luminary Award for Excellence in Web sites and Publications.
BASF was among just twelve bar associations and their communications professionals to receive Luminary Awards this year. The NABE Communications Section's awards program, created at the Albuquerque Communications Section workshop in 1992 and named for the New Mexican "luminaria," recognizes excellence in marketing, public relations, regular publications, special publications and websites. Winners include representatives from small, media and large bar associations from around the county.
"We are very proud of BASF for earning this award," said Joan Haratani, BASF President. "Bringing home an award of this caliber is a true testament to our staff's professionalism and is a wonderful recognition of the work this bar association does to service its members and the public."
The winning BASF entry for publications was for San Francisco Attorney magazine, a quarterly magazine that keeps members updated on local legal news. The BASF Web site (www.sfbar.org), completely refigured and redesigned in 2005, took the national honors for Web sites.
"The NABE Luminary Awards provide recognition for excellence in the field of communications," said Ken Brown, director of public and media relations for the Ohio State Bar Association and chair of the Luminary Awards Committee. "These award winners represent the best in their field nationwide, so they and their associations can be proud of this special recognition."
Special thanks go to the Luminary Awards sponsor West for providing an impressive statuette that winners now proudly display. Appreciation also goes to fellow NABE Communications professionals who served as judges.
