This page provides answers to common questions about BASF membership.
Am I eligible to become a BASF member?
Attorneys, students and legal professionals who meet the following criteria are eligible to become BASF members.
Attorneys: Any attorney who is permitted to practice law in the United States or anywhere else in the world is eligible for BASF membership. Membership dues are calculated based on an attorney's first admit date to any jurisdiction. Retired attorneys, attorneys inactive with the State Bar of California, and attorneys employed by a non-profit organization or a government agency are entitled to a 50% discount off of the regular dues rate.
Students: Any individual enrolled in a law school, or pursuing a paralegal degree, is eligible for the Student Member rate. Graduates of law school within six months after their graduation date who have not yet been admitted to practice law in the United States or anywhere else in the world.
Non-Attorneys and Paralegals: A person who meets one of the following definitions is eligible for this rate category:
Do I need a BASF ID number to take advantage of the member benefits?
Yes, you will be asked for your BASF ID number when you access or apply for many of your exclusive member benefits. Forgot your username or password? Contact the Membership Department at 415-982-1600.
How do I find my BASF ID number
Your BASF ID number is printed on your membership card (see the next question below). If you can't find your card or don't know your number, please contact Monique Jackson at 415-782-8965or email her at email@example.com.
How do I get a membership card?
After we receive payment of membership dues, we will send out your membership card. Please allow 3-5 weeks for your membership card to arrive in the mail.
Your membership card includes your BASF member number. Please keep this is a safe placeyou'll be asked for this number when you apply for certain services through our Discounts and Offers program.

Do I need to be a member to attend an event?
Anyone is welcome to attend our public events at the non-member registration rate. BASF members receive special discounts when registering for an event. We also offer a monthly Technology Tuesday webinar, which are for members only.
How do I change my address and contact information?
To update your contact information, please fill out the contact information update form.
When does my membership expire?
A BASF Membership runs for a calendar year, January 1 to December 31.
How do I set up my member login account?
Once you become a BASF member, you automatically gain access to many member-only benefits, including your own personal profile page called “My Account.”
Once you log in you can access your account, update your contact information, review your payment history, get a list of MCLE programs you’ve purchased to date, and so much more.
And you have immediate access to member-only benefits.
BASF membership dues are based on the number of years you have been practicing law.
