BASF Task Force Addressing Court Closures and Cutbacks

The court closures and cutbacks San Francisco is facing are an untenable situation for our court, our community and our clients.

The Bar Association of San Francisco has formed three working groups to address (on parallel tracks) the three specific action items discussed at a recent task force meeting:

  1. Legislation
  2. Constitutional challenges
  3. Judicial Council action

If you are interested in serving on one of these working groups, or know others within your firm or the broader legal community who would be a particular asset to one of these groups, please let us know by emailing

On July 22, 2011, the Judicial Council of California met to discuss budget allocations to local courts for FY 2011-2012. During the public comment period, San Francisco Superior Court Presiding Judge Katherine Feinstein and Doris Cheng, a member of the Board of Directors of The Bar Association of San Francisco, spoke on the financial crisis in San Francisco Superior Court.
