How can I verify my registration?

To confirm your registration, please call (415) 982-1600 and ask for the Continuing Legal Education department.

Please have available the name and date of the event.

Where are the CLE seminars held?

The location is listed for each seminar in our Calendar of Events.

Our most common venue is our Conference Center located at

What if I show up late to an event?

You are requested to sign in at the program during the defined registration period. MCLE credit  will be granted only in 30 minute increments. Reservations will be held for 25 minutes beyond start time. At that time, seats are considered 'no-shows' and can be sold.

If you cannot attend a seminar after you have pre-registered, please let us know 48 hours in advance and we will refund your money, minus a $5.00 handling fee.

How do I register multiple people for the same event?

If you are registering online, you must submit a separate registration form for each participant.

You can submit multiple registrants on a single form via phone, fax or mail.

If I want to register at the last minute, what should I do?

If you are trying to register 48 hours before an event, please print out our Registration Form (23KB PDF), and fax it to (415) 477-2388.

Or you may call us with your credit card information at (415) 982-1600 and ask for the Continuing Legal Education department.

Online registrations will not be accepted within 48 hours of an event.

If an event is full, can I be placed on a wait list?

We try to accommodate as many people as possible for an event.  Please call (415) 982-1600 and ask for the Continuing Legal Education department to check on the status of the waiting list.

Accommodations as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act

If you have special needs as addressed by the Americans with Disabilities Act, please notify BASF at least two weeks prior to the program. Contact the CLE department at (415) 982-1600 regarding any reasonable accommodations that we may be able to provide so you can fully utilize our services.

Am I a BASF member?

Please call (415) 982-1600 and ask for the Membership department to confirm your BASF membership, including section membership for further discounts.

Do I need to be a BASF member to attend a CLE seminar?

Everyone is welcome. However, all BASF members receive a special rate for each seminar.

How many hours of MCLE do I need?

Attorneys are required to earn 25 hours of MCLE credit every three years, including:

  • Four hours in legal ethics
  • One hour in education designed to prevent, detect, and treat substance abuse or mental illness that impairs professional competence
  • One hour in dealing with the elimination of bias in the legal profession by reason of but not limited to sex, color, race, religion, ancestry, national origin, physical disability, age, or sexual orientation

How can I request a copy of an MCLE receipt?

If you did not sign in on the roster during the defined registration period, we cannot verify your attendance, and we will be unable to send you a receipt.

If you did sign in, please email us at cle@sfbar.org and provide the following information:

  • Registrant's name
  • Registrant's phone number
  • Title and date of seminar
  • The fax number or address to use for sending the receipt

Once we verify that you attended the program, we will send you a copy of the receipt to the fax number or address you have specified.

How can I request materials from a CLE seminar, whether I attended or not?

Please email cle@sfbar.org and provide us with the following information:

  • Title and date of seminar
  • Your name, email or fax number

We will reply via email in 5-7 business days regarding availability and cost.

How do I cancel my registration and request a refund?

If you cancel 48 hours in advance we will refund your payment, minus a $5.00 handling fee.

Please email cle@sfbar.org and provide us with the following information in order to facilitate your cancellation:

  • Title and date of seminar
  • Name of registrant and firm
  • Form of payment (i.e., check, credit card or money order)

Please use the word "cancel" in your subject line.

May I send a substitute in my place?

Yes. Please email cle@sfbar.org and provide us with the following information:

  • Title and date of seminar
  • Name of registrant and firm
  • Name of the person who will be substituting

Please use the word "substitute" in your subject line.

Can I pay at the door on the day of the program?

We can't guarantee seating, materials or a meal if you do not pre-register. A late fee applies to same-day registrants.

How do I register for a program sponsored by the Justice & Diversity Center ?

The Justice & Diversity Center processes their events differently than the regular BASF CLE and Barristers CLE seminars. If you have a question about a JDC Legal Services Training, please contact probono@sfbar.org directly.
