Bar Association of San Francisco Events Calendar Justice and Diversity Center Presents
Housing Negotiation Project Volunteer Sign-Ups
October 18, 2018:
12:15 pm
-
4:30 pm
If you've attended the Justice and Diversity Center's (JDC) Housing Negotiation Project (HNP) training, you may sign up on this page to provide pro bono representation at San Francisco Superior Court. We ask that attorneys who take our free training commit to four sessions in the six months following your training.
Through HNP, attorneys provide limited-scope representation to individuals and families facing eviction, limited to mandatory settlement conferences only. HNP is the first pro bono project of its kind, and provides every single person in need of representation with a pro bono attorney.
Volunteer shifts are available every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, 12:15 to 4:30 p.m. Attorneys will receive the calendar nine days before settlement conferences for conflicts checks. During one shift, a volunteer will represent one or two clients. JDC supervising attorneys will be on hand to aid you with your case(s).
On the day you are volunteering, please arrive at the San Francisco Superior Court by 12:15 p.m. After signing up, you'll receive a confirming email giving the room number at the court.
Attorneys must take JDC training before volunteering at HNP. If you'd like to volunteer but need to take the free two-hour training (with MCLE credit), the dates can be found on our Legal Services Events & Trainings Calendar.
