BASF Court Funding Task Force

On September 9, 2011, the Judicial Council of California approved a loan of $2.5 million to San Francisco Superior Court (SFSC). This funding, along with the resources held by SFSC, will enable the court to continue employing one hundred people who are critical to the judicial administration process and will provide for 11 additional civil courtrooms (including both complex litigation departments) which were previously slated to be closed, to remain open to serve the people of San Francisco County.

Over the past six weeks, the officers of BASF and members of the Court Funding Task Force have been working around the clock with numerous interested parties including the Judicial Counsel, the Administrative Office of the Courts, SFSC, Senator Mark Leno’s office, bar and trade association leaders, and community leaders across our state to come up with solutions to avoid the layoffs and courtroom closures. BASF thanks all of the members of the Task Force for their incredible service.

We invite all members of the legal community to continue to work with BASF, along with state, county and local bar coalition partners, to ensure statewide funding for the judicial branch in the future.
