Meet Your Board: Robert Sims

BASF recently asked Board Member Robert Sims of Latham & Watkins some questions about his work with BASF and more.

BASF: What is the accomplishment you are most proud of during your term as a director?

Robert Sims (RS): I was very proud of BASF’s response to Proposition 8 and its aftermath. I am also very proud of our efforts to promote diversity in the profession and the local bench.

BASF: What do you like to do in your spare time?

RS: Travel, golf, movies (not necessarily in that order), and hanging out with my wife and teenage daughter (when they agree to be seen with me in public).

BASF: What was the last book you read?

RS: The Book of Basketball: The NBA According to The Sports Guy by Bill Simmons (absolutely hilarious, by the way). I am currently working on several sci-fi novels.

BASF: How do you manage work/life balance?

RS: Not particularly well, so I try to enjoy both my work and my life and to always make time for my family.

BASF: How does networking factor into building your business?

RS: It’s important to maintain relationships with your colleagues, friends and clients over time to be successful in this business.

BASF: How has The Bar Association of San Francisco helped you in your practice?

RS: Since I moved to the Bay Area in 1997, BASF has helped me grow as a lawyer and become part of the great legal community we have here.

BASF thanks Robert Sims for his service on the Board of Directors.
