BASF Not Endorsing a San Francisco District Attorney Candidate

Election is November 8

BASF held a two week plebiscite of its attorney members on the November election for San Francisco District Attorney, in accordance with the by-laws of the association.
For any candidate to be endorsed by BASF, one-third of the eligible ballots, or 2,216 ballots had to be received. Since only 852 ballots, or 13% of the eligible ballots were returned, the association will not endorse any candidate for the election.

The results, counted on September 26, 2011, are as follows: of the 852 ballots cast, 274 were in favor of George Gascón; 215 were in favor of David Onek; 200 were in favor of Sharmin Bock, 141 were in favor of Bill Fazio and 22 were in favor of Vu Trinh.

BASF held a forum with the five candidates on September 7, 2011.

A video of the forum, compliments of SFGovTV, can be accessed at www.sfbar.org/plebiscite.
