Bar Association of San Francisco Member Benefits: Publications

Support Needed for Diverse Law Students in San Francisco

In 2010, Coblentz, Patch, Duffy & Bass LLP and Keker & Van Nest LLP were sponsors of BASF’s Bay Area Minority Law Student Scholarship. Each firm committed to a full, three-year scholarship and received a number of benefits that spotlight their generous contribution and involvement.

When sponsoring a full scholarship, a donor is given the opportunity to name its scholarship. The firm, company or individual will also be recognized in all BASF publications that feature the scholarship, including BASF’s iCounsel and Bullet Points e-newsletters and the monthly BASF Bulletin newspaper. Additional cross-marketing possibilities will be discussed with all donors and each donor is given the chance to mentor the law student who receives the scholarship.

Kristen Corpion is the recipient of the 2010 Coblentz scholarship and a first year student at UC Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law. She is one of only four 1L students to successfully try out for its mock trial team. This month, she will compete at the American Association for Justice’s annual trial competition. Kristen is also a volunteer with the La Raza Worker’s Rights Clinic.

Jessica Flores, who received the 2010 Keker scholarship, has completed a successful first semester at UC Hastings College of the Law. She continues to stay closely involved with Centro Legal de la Raza, where she worked before law school, and supported the group in the creation of their new website, CentroLegal.org.

Donors may also make partial contributions to the scholarship program by giving to BASF’s Thurgood Marshall Scholarship. All donations made to the BASF Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, are deductible as allowed by law.
