Panelists Present Expert Views from the Prop. 8 Trial

On July 8, 2010, the BASF Equality Committee’s Subcommittee on LGBT Issues sponsored a panel discussion entitled, “Views from the Prop. 8 Trial: An Insider’s Guide to the Trial of the Century,” featuring Shannon Price Minter, Legal Director at National Center for Lesbian Rights; Professor Margaret Russell, Constitutional Law professor at Santa Clara University School of Law; Therese Stewart, Chief Deputy City Attorney, San Francisco City Attorney’s Office; and Dan Levine, staff writer for The Recorder.

Over 130 lawyers, law students and legal professionals attended the panel discussion, which was followed by a reception made possible by several sponsor law firms. The panelists explored trial tactics and strategies employed by the Prop. 8 Trial lawyers, the media’s coverage of the Prop. 8 Trial, constitutional questions raised by the Prop. 8 Trial and predictions on what’s to come as the Prop. 8 federal challenge moves forward.
