Interested in a Career in Politics?
Attend First of Four Workshops Starting January 29

 

The Bar Association of San Francisco will kick off its bootcamp series “Political Opportunities for Leadership by Lawyers” (POLL) on January 29 with a workshop that will help people prepare for leadership on boards and commissions. The workshop, which includes 1.5 hours in CLE credit (.5 in Legal Ethics), will be lead by Moderator Michael Sweet who chairs the San Francisco Human Rights Commission.

Panelists include Paul Henderson, Deputy Chief of Staff - Public Safety, City and County of San Francisco; Bryan Parker, Commissioner, Port of Oakland; Cristina Rubke, Director, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Board of Directors and L. Julius M. Turman, Commissioner, San Francisco Police Commission.POLL

Topics that will be covered include:

  • How to get appointed to high profile boards and commissions
  • The role and expectations of lawyers on boards and commissions; ethical considerations
  • How this experience can lead to political leadership positions
  • What board and commission opportunities exist for lawyers in the Bay Area

POLL is four-part series that provides practical advice, training and inspirationfrom attorneys who serve on boards and commissions, and from those who practice political law. And each workshop will
provide ample time for networking and business card swapping.
