Chris Kearney Installed as BASF’s 100th President

Initiative Launched at Annual Luncheon to Help Underemployed Attorneys

Christopher Kearney of Keker & Van Nest was installed on December 11 as the 100th President of The Bar Association of San Francisco. Kearney took over from 2012 President Kelly Dermody of Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein.

In his welcome speech, Kearney recapped Dermody’s achievements in 2012, including the widely publicized Stand Up For Justice court rally in April and her 2012 Service Days initiative, which brought together hundreds of volunteers to work on projects throughout San Francisco.
Kearney announced the association will focus on three things in 2013: court funding; getting firms involved with the Right to Civil Counsel Pilot Program; and Mind the Gap – a Practical Skills Pro Bono Initiative which seeks to bridge the gap for underemployed and unemployed attorneys that have just started in their careers.

In addition to the 2013 BASF and Barristers Club boards being installed, BASF also honored several members and one organization with awards for their contributions to the association in 2012.
