Bar Association of San Francisco Member Benefits: Publications

Let BASF Continue to Be Your Go To Membership Organization in 2013

Beginning October 1, members can renew their 2013 BASF membership. We hope BASF has been a valuable professional resource for you, and we look forward to welcoming you again in 2013.

BASF has been extremely active in the community over the past year. To highlight a few items, our organization has and will continue to play a pivotal role in responding to the San Francisco and California court funding crisis, an issue significant to many of our members. Recently, our Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) launched the “Military Assistance Program” providing low-fee legal assistance to military personnel and their families, and veterans.

BASF is constantly working hard to expand our member benefits and services to meet your needs. A new and extremely popular member benefit “Tech Tuesdays,” was introduced in 2012. Tech Tuesdays is a free members-only seminar series focusing on the latest technology topics relevant to lawyers.
As your local bar association, BASF offers you many ways to develop your business and support networks through our various formal programs and informal social events. As a member you have the opportunity to gain exclusive membership to BASF Sections and Committees and for newer attorneys and law students, there is the Barristers Club. Hone your professional skills and develop your career as an Alternative Dispute Resolution volunteer or join LRIS to expand your practice with pre-screened referrals. As a member, you have the ability to serve the community through volunteering with our diversity pipeline programs or joining our nationally-recognized Volunteer Legal Services Program (VLSP).
Take advantage of discounted member rates on over 200 annual in-person and online Continuing Legal Education seminars on topics that address virtually every area of practice. We were voted one of the best 2012 providers of CLE by readers of The Recorder.

Finally, don’t forget about our member-only benefits including: free and discounted publications,
the annual BASF Directory, and discounts to insurance and numerous vendor services.

Susan KumagaiSusan Kumagai, managing partner at Lafayette & Kumagai and BASF board member says, “The opportunities BASF provides to network, contribute to critical legal issues and give back to the community are invaluable. The attorneys in our firm that are new to the profession are given resources to gain knowledge and grow to be a success in the profession they have chosen. Last, but not least, as a minority owned law firm, it is an honor to be associated with a bar association that is nationally known as a leader in diversifying the legal profession.”

Wilma WallaceWilma Wallace, Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Gap Inc., has been a dedicated BASF member for years and is now on the board of directors: “As a longtime BASF member and Chair of BASF’s In-House Counsel Subsection, I am extremely excited to be involved with an organization that is so dedicated to serving our community. I value BASF’s diversity, pro bono, and volunteer opportunities – all of which have helped me in
my professional development. BASF also serves as an important bridge between in-house counsel and outside law firms.”
