BASF Mediation Services: Mediator Spotlight

BASF’s Mediation Services panelists have extensive training and experience, and are versed in over 30 areas of law. Here are three recent additions:

Laura Goldin, Shirish Gupta, Stephen Schrey

Laura Goldin | Mediation Law Office of Laura Goldin

Laura Goldin, who joined BASF’s Mediation Services panel last year, has extensive mediation experience focusing on all aspects of family law and probate, including termination of domestic partnerships, non-marital and marital disputes. She has developed a niche practice in pre-estate planning by working with families to create agreements which avoid future disputes over estates and inheritances. Similarly by facilitating pre-domestic partner and marital agreements, Goldin helps to assure those future partners are entering their relationships with a complete understanding of the other’s expectations.

Shirish Gupta | Flashpoint Mediation

Shirish Gupta, a SuperLawyer’s Rising Star in ADR, brought his mediation skills to BASF in 2012. Gupta is a tenacious, yet creative mediator, specializing in complex and challenging disputes. He has an amazing 80% settlement rate. He conducts mediations from Flashpoint Mediation’s centers in San Mateo, Sacramento and Irvine.

One party to a case Gupta mediated commented “[Gupta’s] knowledge of the law and skills as a communicator are exactly what is needed in most mediations.” He’s also been described as “a master mediator,” “highly skilled,” “an excellent listener,” “professional but relaxed,” and “unbiased.”

Stephen Schrey | Nixon Peabody LLP

Stephen Schrey, an-other recent addition to BASF’s Mediation Services panel, has resolved a variety of disputes in mediation and other ADR proceedings over the last 15 years, both for BASF as well as the Northern District of California and other courts. Over 38 years in practice, he has tried cases in state and federal courts ranging from fraud and medical malpractice to insurance bad faith and computer performance. He brings extensive ADR training as well as real world experience to bear in a mediation, coupled with a good sense of humor and patient persistence, always seeking to help the parties find a resolution of their dispute.
