Bar Association of San Francisco Member Benefits: Publications

Make Membership Work For You in 2012: Renew Today!

As 2012 begins, act now and renew your BASF membership.
The year 2011 was a very active one for BASF. To highlight a few items, we played a pivotal role in responding to the San Francisco and California court funding crisis, an issue significant to most of our members. Recently, our Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS) launched the “Military Assistance Program” providing low-fee legal assistance for military personnel and their families, and veterans. In October the Barristers Club held its first annual meeting offering a day-long series of MCLE programs geared towards new attorneys.

BASF is constantly working to expand our member benefits and services such as free and discounted publications, discounts to insurance and numerous vendor services. New member benefits added in 2011 included In-House Counsel Mixers and the extremely popular “Technology Tuesdays,” a free member-only seminar series focusing on the latest technology topics relevant to lawyers.

As always, BASF offers you many ways to develop your business and support networks through our programs and social events. As a member you have the opportunity to join sections and committees, get discounted member rates on over 200 in-person and online continuing legal education seminars, hone your professional skills and develop your career as an Alternative Dispute Resolution volunteer or join LRIS to expand your practice with pre-screened referrals. Members also have the ability to serve the community by volunteering with our diversity pipeline programs or do pro bono work through our Volunteer Legal Services Program.

Susan Kumagai, managing partner at Lafayette & Kumagai LLP says, “The opportunities BASF provides to network, contribute to critical legal issues and to give back to the community are invaluable. The attorneys in our firm that are new to the profession are given resources to gain knowledge and grow to be a success in the profession they have chosen. Last, but not least, as a minority-owned law firm, it is an honor to be associated with a bar association that is nationally known as a leader in diversifying the legal profession.”
