Meet New VLSP Staff Attorneys

 

Attorney Takes Hiatus and Returns to Head Up VLSP’s Right to Civil Counsel Pilot Program

Ted JanowskyTed Janowsky first joined VLSP’s Homeless Advocacy Project (HAP) as a staff attorney in 2000. In his 11 years of service at HAP.

Ted practiced in all areas of poverty law and developed an expertise in landlord/tenant law providing direct service and representation to tenants in eviction proceedings who were at serious risk of becoming homeless. After a one year hiatus, Ted has returned to VLSP as the staff attorney for its Right to Civil Counsel Pilot Program. He is now focusing on access to justice issues in the landlord-tenant.
Ted earned a degree in Political Science from UC Berkeley and he received his J.D. from UC Hastings College of the Law.

Meet Community Organization Representation Project Staff Attorney: Doan Trang T. Nguyen

Doan Trang T. NguyenPrior to joining VLSP as a Staff Attorney for the Community Organization Representation Project (CORP), Doan was an Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow at OneJustice, where she directed the Law Student Pro Bono Project.

Doan began her legal career at the International Institute of the East Bay, helping immigrant victims of violence file U-visa and Violence Against Women Act petitions. During law school, she interned at the East Bay Community Law Center, Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach, International Bridges to Justice, and Discrimination Research Center. Doan received her B.A. in English Literature from UC Berkeley and JD from UC Berkeley School of Law.

She was a 2004 recipient of BASF’s Minority Law Student Scholarship.
