Law Student Scholarship Now Accepting Applications

Read an update on the four current recipients

2012 marks the fifteenth year that BASF will award scholarships to diverse law students through its Bay Area Minority Law Student Scholarship Program. BASF is now accepting applications for the 2012 program; new and continuing law students attending school in Northern California are invited to apply. Applications are due on May 11, 2012.

BASF’s four 2011 scholarship recipients are in the process of completing their first year of law school with great enthusiasm and success.

2011 Scholarship Recipients

Edelmira Diaz (UC Hastings College of the Law, Morrison & Foerster Scholarship) is on the board of
Hasting’s Prisoner Outreach and volunteers with the Hastings Homeless Legal Clinic.

Antonio Ingram (UC Berkeley School of Law, Brosnahan Scholarship) has joined the Berkeley Law Journal of African American Law and Policy and will work as a summer associate with Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco this summer.

Elva Linares (UC Hastings College of the Law, Shanna Bradford Scholarship from the Arthur and Charlotte Zitrin Foundation) has been actively involved with the La Raza Student Organization and is interested in learning more about immigration law.

Everardo Mora (University of San Francisco School of Law, Pacific Gas and Electric Company Scholarship) spoke on a panel in February for BASF’s Destination Law School Program for diverse pre-law students.

These students have also spent time within the San Francisco legal community with support from scholarship sponsors. They were guests at the annual BASF Gala in the fall and have been invited to attend the Charles Houston Bar Association Gala, as well as the San Francisco La Raza Lawyers Association’s Noche de Gala.

2012 scholarship program donors include the Arthur and Charlotte Zitrin Foundation, the Morrison & Foerster Foundation, AT&T, and the Say Hey Foundation.
