Firms Needed to Participate in Homeless Advocacy Project’s Summer Associates Program

On June 7 summer associates from several San Francisco law firms will be attending a training for the Volunteer Legal Services Program’s (VLSP) Homeless Advocacy Project’s (HAP) Summer Associate in Public Service Program. Through this program, summer associates work with supervising attorneys on individual HAP cases throughout the summer, gaining experience in client interviewing, issue identification, negotiation, drafting of legal briefs and memoranda, discovery, and possible appearances in civil and/or administrative settings.

The program demonstrates for summer associates the importance of making pro bono work a part of their careers, and is also an opportunity for law firms to make a difference assisting homeless San Franciscans in need of legal services.

VLSP is now signing up firms for the summer program 2012. If you are interested in getting your firm involved, please contact Andrea Fitanides at afitanides@sfbar.org or 415-782-9000 x8714.
