2012 Food From the Bar Campaign Coming Right Up! Campaign runs April 30 to May 25

Since 2005, BASF’s Food from the Bar campaign has raised $1,971,141. That makes this 30-day San Francisco legal community campaign the number one fundraiser for the San Francisco and Marin Food Banks – a fact the community has much to be proud of. And when you consider with every $1 raised, the food banks can buy $6 worth of food, you begin to understand this is one critical campaign.

San Francisco Food BankBASF President Kelly Dermody recognized this responsibility when she announced not one, but two Food From the Bar Service Days in 2012. Volunteers from the legal community will be asked to roll up their sleeves and volunteer a shift at the San Francisco food bank warehouse on Saturday, May 5 and/or Saturday, May 19 [This date is full.]

Is the legal community ready to engage for the food bank this year? The organizers of the campaign urge participating firms to challenge one another and share ideas on how best to raise money. For example, in previous years the attorneys and staff at Munger, Tolles & Olson organized by Office Administrator Kim Coates, have held bake sales to raise money to donate to the campaign.

The campaign will run from April 30 to May 25 with a kick-off reception on April 18. Mark your calendars and save these dates.

In 2011, the “Top Fundraising” honor went to, for the fourth year in a row, the Fremont Group, who has raised more money than any other fundraising drive in San Francisco Food Bank history, with an amazing $82,360 raised!

Kirkland & Ellis was recognized as the “Top Foodraiser” bringing in more than 972 pounds of food.
The “Chief Volunteer Recruiter” award went to Seyfarth Shaw, for the second year in a row, with 50 volunteer shifts.

The “2011 Rookie of the Year” honor went to fist-time participants Bechtel Legal & Risk Management.

The “Per Capita Grand Prize” went to Munger, Tolles & Olson for raising the most money per person.

Is your law firm up for the challenge this year?

The goals for the 2012 campaign are to raise $520,000; collect 14,000 pounds of donated food and have 700 volunteer shifts contributed to the food bank.
