Bar Association of San Francisco Barristers Club Committees

Lawyers in the Schools

Each year, the Lawyers in the Schools Program sends volunteer lawyers to speak in classrooms throughout San Francisco about the practice of law, law as a profession, and other law-related subjects of interest to students and teachers.

The program receive requests from teachers working with all ages from kindergarten through 12th grade.  The Lawyers in the Schools Program is a unique and fun way for students to learn about the legal system.  By connecting students and local lawyers, the program also serves as a vital bridge between the legal community and the educational system in San Francisco.  Requests from local teachers vary, but have included topics such as:

  • What do lawyers do?
  • How does a person become a lawyer?
  • How does the court system work?
  • Current events related to the legal system

This program is a great way for BASF lawyers to get involved in the community.  If you are a lawyer and are interested in participating in the Lawyers in the Schools Program, please contact one of the committee members listed below and we will match you up with one of our requests.

If you are a teacher in San Francisco and are interested in having a lawyer come speak to your class, please download this Speaker Request form (41KBPDF iconPDF) and email it to barristers@sfbar.org.
