UC Hastings presents Waking from the California Dream: The Past, Present, and Future of California's Fiscal Constitution on February 25

UC Hastings Constitutional Law Quartely is hosting its 37th annual symposium--Waking from the California Dream: The Past, Present, and Future of California's Fiscal Constitution--on Thursday, February 25, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at UC Hastings.  Academics, policymakers, and practitioners will come together to discuss the origin of California's fiscal crisis, the state's options given the current constitutional constraints, and the practicality of reform measures.  This event is open to the public and approved for MCLE credit by the State Bar of California.  Please visit http://www.uchastings.edu/clq/symposium.html to register and for more information.  Cost: $25 in advance, $35 at the door, and free for students.


 

BASF sends letter to in regards to Judge Edward Chen's Appointment

In a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, BASF wrote to request that he promptly bring to the Senate floor an up-or-down vote on the nomination of the Honorable Edward M. Chen to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

ABA Seeks Judges for Moot Trial Competition

The ABA Law Student Division is hosting a moot court competition in San Francisco, February 25-27, 2010.  The division is seeking licensed attorneys to serve as competition judges.  The competition will be held at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California (450 Golden Gate Ave., San Francisco, CA 94102).  Judges may earn CLE credit if California provides credit for judging law student moot court competitions.

Law Academy Youth Program Needs Mentors

BASF’s Law Academy high school pipeline program needs volunteers to mentor students on how to prepare for a legal internship and guide them through a research project. The program is designed to make the classroom curriculum more relevant, broaden the students’ sense of their own potential and expand the walls of the classroom with professional experiences.
