Andrew R. Wiener has been a trial lawyer since 1984 and formally opened a mediation practice in 2003. He is versed in employment law as a result of an active employment litigation practice. Wiener has been most often engaged to mediate claims of wrongful termination, sexual harassment and/or discrimination in the workplace on the basis of age, race, gender or disability. But having a concurrent construction defect litigation practice for over twenty years, representing homeowners, homeowners associations, developers, contractors and/or subcontractors, his mediation practice also regularly involves real estate disputes. Wiener has been on various mediation and arbitration panels over the past 17 years, including as a mediator for The Bar Association of San Francisco's Early Settlement Program (since 2002) and their Mediation Services (since 2004). He also serves as an arbitrator for the Homeless Shelter Arbitration Program of the Department of Human Services of San Francisco (since 1992, Certificate of Honor, 1998) and for judicial arbitration of civil cases pending in the Superior Court of the City and County of San Francisco. Wiener is a graduate of Brown University (1980) and McGeorge School of Law (1983), is currently the Chair of the City of Oakland Public Ethics Commission, and holds an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
