Neil Taxy | Leland, Parachini, Steinberg, Matzger & Melnick LLPNeil Taxy

Areas of Experience: Business, Commercial, Real Estate, Intellectual Property

Neil Taxy’s thirty years as a transaction and IP attorney have taught him that dispute resolution is best accomplished by mapping out strategies and solutions that are mutually beneficial to parties in conflict.

As a transaction attorney, one of Taxy's key goals is to keep his clients out of court.  During contract negotiations, Taxy anticipates issues and works to resolve them up front.  If a disagreement springs up later, he guides the parties to achieve a win-win consensus.

Mediation is a perfect fit for Taxy’s outgoing personality and business acumen, and a natural extension of his professional experience and outlook.  As a mediator for business, commercial, real estate, IP, and personal/family matters, Taxy’s common-sense approach guides parties toward reaching a durable resolution that they fashion themselves, freeing them from the time, expense, and distraction of further conflict.

Taxy has practiced law at the same  firm in San Francisco since graduating from Berkeley Law School in 1983.  He has lived in the Bay Area for forty years – more than half of that time in the same home in the Glenview district of Oakland, with his wife and two sons.

Taxy deeply values community involvement.  He has had the privilege of serving as the president of four non-profit boards, working with diverse perspectives to forge consensus.  He knows that people and institutions – whether clients, friends, or organizations – benefit from focusing on success rather than conflict.  Helping others to put a dispute behind them is another way in which Taxy finds fulfillment.

Taxy is a member of the mediation panels of the International Trademark Association, the Congress of Neutrals, and is a member of BASF’s Mediation Services panel.
