Areas of Experience: Construction, Fee Disputes


A graduate of Boalt Law School, University of California, Robert E. Leslie has been active in the construction dispute area all of his 40 plus years as an attorney. He has represented owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and sureties and has acted as an arbitrator and mediator in all aspects of construction matters, from single family dwellings to large commercial buildings.

His professional membership includes the Legal Advisory Committee of the AGC of California, a past chairman; The International Association of Defense Counsel, past chairman of the Fidelity and Surety Section and past chairman of the Construction Litigation Section; The American Bar Association, member of the Fidelity and Surety Section, Forum on the Construction Industry and the Dispute Resolution Section.

Leslie was a panelist, 1972, 1976 and moderator, 1980, 1984, 1989, 1995 and 1999 for the Continuing Education of the California Bar Program, Mechanic's Liens, Bonds and Stop Notices.

He is certified as a mediator by the American Arbitration Association Center for Mediation in 1994 and has been involved in numerous mediations in various capacities since 1987. He has acted as an arbitrator in over 300 cases on the Large Complex Panel of The American Arbitration Association and as a neutral with the State of California Office of Administrative Hearings on State of California construction disputes.

Leslie has been an arbitrator on The Bar Association of San Francisco panel on attorney/client fee disputes since 1982.

He is a retired colonel in the Judge Advocate General Corps of the United States Army Reserve.
