Chris Knowlton has more than 20 years of experience as a full-time, neutral mediator and arbitrator. She directs Hastings College of the Law's Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution and teaches negotiation and mediation there.

Knowlton has mediated numerous class, multi-party and individual employment cases, as well as cases involving civil rights, intellectual property, commercial and business claims, and intra-organizational disputes.

She provides a structure for settlement that is tailored to the needs of the parties and the problem, and produces results that are practical, constructive and effective. Knowlton grasps legal and factual issues quickly, and helps parties realistically assess their situation. She is patient, persistent and flexible, and handles intense conflict and high emotion with empathy and understanding.

Before becoming a mediator, Knowlton was a litigator in the Los Angeles law firm of Taylor, Roth & Bush. She graduated summa cum laude from Hunter College and attended UCLA School of Law.

Hourly Rate: $500
