Before becoming a mediator, Gabriel Leif Bellman started several award-winning television series for MTV and directed feature films and music videos. Experience resolving conflict with firm deadlines under immense financial pressure helps set Bellman apart as a mediator. Bellman has spent the last 20+ years in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, where conflict resolution is a necessity of urban happiness.

Very comfortable in the creative art of conflict resolution, Bellman excels in resolutions involving complex litigation. He brings extensive litigation experience settling cases as an attorney representing both defendants and plaintiffs, a past which helps him quickly understand the obstacles facing each side in a case. In addition to serving on the Mediation Services panel for BASF, Bellman mediates emotionally charged disputes involving police officers through the Office of Citizen Complaints. A certified panelist with Community Boards, he also trained in San Mateo’s Juvenile Justice Mediation. Bellman is a certified CDRC mediator, and a certified Arbitrator for SF Human Services, resolving disputes inside SF’s homeless shelters. Bellman finds solving puzzles energizing, and looks forward to the challenge of moving towards and through impasse.

He has been a member of the Alameda County Court Appointed Criminal Attorney panel, the Association of Defense Council for Northern California, the SF Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, AIDS Legal Referral Panel, American Mensa, and the Bar Association of San Francisco. Bellman is licensed to practice law in the state of California, and federally in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the US District Court for Northern California. Bellman received his BA from USC’s prestigious Cinema School, his Master’s Degree from NYU in Social Thought, and his JD from UC Hastings. Bellman’s broad experience includes study in Madrid and graduate work in Dublin’s Trinity College.
