Mediator Koorosh Afshari has handled several hundred cases including: dozens of Real Estate, Business, Neighbor, Personal Injury (200 plus) and Landlord/Tenant/Wrongful Eviction disputes. He also has a special expertise in mediating Trademarks, Trade Secrets, and Intellectual Property disputes. A high percentage of these cases have settled. Afshari attributes his success to the efforts and common sense of the parties and their lawyers, as well as his own extensive experience, effective preparation and analysis, empathy, patience, energy, and follow-up. Afshari's Engineering training at one of the leading institutions in the U.S. has been an important asset in resolving various disputes. Afshari understands and particularly welcomes the tough challenges presented by difficult cases. For example, in Neighbor disputes, the apparent bone of contention is often merely the tip of the iceberg of years of simmering dislikes between everyday people living next to one another. The highly contentious, and routinely complex and uncertain nature of commercial/residential real estate transactions-gone-bad, especially in the current climate, pits people and entities of various means and sophistication against one another. In a recent highly contentious complex multi-million-dollar multi-party commercial real estate fraud case, the timely resolution of the case pre-empted certain malicious prosecution and related actions. In addition to his busy private practice, Afshari also serves as a mediator/ settlement panelist for San Francisco, Marin, and Sacramento Superior Courts; Federal District Courts in San Francisco and Sacramento; and the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF). He is often called on by Courts to resolve their more difficult cases. Afshari is a 1991 graduate of USF Law School, with an undergraduate degree in Aircraft Engineering.
